Do you have any idea what the ORIGINAL viscosity recommendations were for that engine? Is this engine original or rebuilt? If rebuilt, how recently? Where do you live? How do you drive this vehicle? How frequently?

LikeDislikeI have a 1987 cadillac 4.1 v/8 engine with throttle body injection. Whats the best oil for this car. It has about 100k miles on the second engine. It is an aluminum block engine.

That’s sort of the point of the site is to provide YOU with the information you need to make informed lubrication decisions for your vehicles. If I just tell you what oil to use, you never learn anything. Then, what happens when I’m not around to tell you what oil to use in your new vehicle?
Better if you know what to look for in an oil and how to compare the specs to make an informed decision for yourself.
